How did you get into Pokemon Hacking? Did someone inspire you? Did you see someone display it in a video? Just curious.

The way I got into it was I was looking up one of the pokemon games online, and then found out there was a way to play them on the computer. So while I'm looking for the roms, I find out that people are hacking them and I was like what? you can do that? so I dowloaded something called Brown Version and that's what got me into wanting to learn how. That was... prolly 8 years ago or more. My how things have changed.

Someone at my school actually told me about being able to play Gameboy games on your computer. I was a little skeptical, but he gave me a CD that he had burned several Pokemon and other various ROMs to. I played them, and latter saw a video on YouTube about Pokemon Brown. I'm a very doubting person and I thought someone used paint or something else to do it. Then I actually found Pokecommunity via Google and got started there. That was two and a half years ago.
As Mateo said, "My how things have changed."

Sometime back in 2001 I had only recently began playing Pokemon Yellow a friend lent me. After talking to a friend about it he said a friend of his had Pokemon yellow on his computer, I was excited at the prospect, so when I got home I spent a while finding out about it all. A few months later the family computer had been reformatted, so when I went look for ROMs, this time I found some Hacks; these being Pokémon Generations by BG Translations, Pokémon Revolution by Colosseum Translations, and Orange Island Adventures by Dtyler/ER Trans, which in turn led me for looking "Pokemon game makers" on search engines for months.( Yahoo rules!!!) Eventually I found Pokemap, Mr Clicks TileED, and Thingy32, from then on I was self taught, only asking the odd question now and again. I'm a very doubting person Hey dude, cheer up, if you go through life doubting everything you'll never have any fun!

Wow, i found out when i was playing my crystal on my Gameboy Color in May i think (yes i still own my GBC) and i forgot how you get strength (even though i beat it 5 times [without cheats] before!). So i looked it up on youtube and found it but in the related videos section "Pokemon Pikachu Edition" Miksy's hack yet i never told him that. I became interested and looked up on google "pokemon computer games and came up with ROM links for them. But then i was like "how do you hack them?" I PM'd Miksy on Youtube and he sent me links to Swampert Tools, Crystal Fallows, Zophar's Domain. I had some tools and a hex editor plus gold map. Never told him that was me. Its ironic because Hiccup found TH and showed me it in August, I signed up, and Miksy was a member! And there u have it!

I started hacking when I found stuff on YouTube, about 4 or 5 years ago, like Pokémon Shiny Gold. Someone, foullump, posted a tutorial on how to download it, so I sent him private messages until he told me to go to the PokéCommunity. Not much of a GB/GBC hacking story, though.

I used to do hard hacks of several rpg games like chrono trigger, final fantasies and others too... (it has been a long time since I started hacking so I can't really remember when) Back then I already knew there were map editors for many games and once I just felt like doing some mapping

Years ago I can remember my cousin saying you could play Pokemon Games on the computer but I never really thought about it. Fast forward a few years to a boring day, I searched up ''Pokemon Ruby on PC''.
I got what I want, all the ROMs and Emulators. As I sifted through the pages of google I came across a website with a dark background. It had a picture of Pokemon Ruby with a blue truck in the wilderness and the main character was wearing black clothes.
I then found out about hacks and looked them up from there.

Umm, it must've been like 2-3 years ago I first heard about emulators. While searching for pokémon roms, I found "pokémon rocket edition" and "pokémon revolution". After playing them, I decided "I want to do this too !" After months of watching dodgy youtube videos on hacks, reading outdated forum posts, etc, I found twilight hacking. I was never really active there, but mateo helped me understand of lot of stuff, and finally after 2 years I have my first beta out.
