Here is a link to Giegue's Master Hacking Guide. It covers Pokemon Red through Pokemon Crystal. It is incomplete as it is a bit old, but it covers the format of several types of data in the rom and will allow you to edit things such as evolutions and when pokemon learn attacks and things like that. Hopefully it will be a help to you.

Just making sure: Is the move list in this for RBY correct? I'm asking because 0A-0F are skipped, and I want to be sure that it was Game Freak's doing, and not a mistake by Giegue.

You know, I'll have to check that out when I'm back on my other PC and can look at my documentation to let you know. Anyone who can double check this offhand want to comment and beat me to it?

I'm getting a feeling that it may be wrong. I just wrote a Lua script to tell me the hex (in decimal) of trainers Pokemon when I battle.
The trainer in Brock's Gym has a Diglett and a Sandshrew that both have 10 (0A in hex) as one of their moves, which should be Scratch. Scratch doesn't appear in the RBY move list, but it does appear in the GSC move list, at position 0A.

Yep, you're right. But I wouldn't copy them all from gold by default, as some moves moved around. here is another doc that will help with red, I forget who made it (my pdf viewer is acting up at the moment) but it covers a lot about red, some of which is covered by giegue and some is explained a bit more. skeetendo.110mb.com/megadoc.zip

Yeah, that megadoc has another incomplete list in it, but it does have 0A-0F. Any chance someone has a correct and complete one?
I think I'm going to retype that megadoc into a .txt file, that way it can be searchable.

Alright, I just took the list at $B0000 and made it into a list. pastebin.com/m6ccb3617I think this is a complete and correct one. It matches up with Giegue's most of the way through, but has all of the moves he missed.

AFAIK the move list from RBY is a subset of the move list from GSC, i.e. the order is the same, but RBY only goes up to Struggle.
edit @mateo: Wait, did you say some are moved around? Which ones specifically?

Actually, I think I might have been mistaken when I wrote that. Looking back over it now I don't see anywhere that they are out of order. Probably ended up accidentally skipping a line somewhere. It happens when browsing a long list.
