Redstar - Ah fair enough. I can see where you would get Mt. Moon from. And yeah, it has been quite a while since we talked about all that. Yeah, I figured that would be an easier way than the beat them X times method, as they seemed to also involve you doing it with no items or some other quantifier that would be difficult to keep track of, and decided that would be a better idea.

I recall you had an elaborate means of getting the X times method to work, though it would have been rather difficult and I don't think it would be worth it, even without the authenticity. You could go with a watered-down alternative and have Prof. Oak give you a key after beating the Elite Four which opens that hidden door. Would still have the basic feeling of the code while making the whole thing simpler.

That is true, I did have a way that would keep track of how many times and would reset if you used a pokemon center to heal, but it would still be annoying most likely. I do like the idea of Oak giving you the key though, I think I'll use that.

Would still be rather easy if he gave you the key after only one completion, so would a small counter (5 - 15 defeats) without the PokeCenter and other prerequisites be possible? Otherwise something equally difficult yet still easily coded would be in order.
(This is fun brainstorming again... I'm glad people still post in this thread!)

Well i guess it wouldnt make a difference how many times it counted to the counter would still have to be in place. Making it count how many times you beat them wouldn't be difficult, it would just be time consuming to make every pokemon center reset the counter if you used it. They all call a script for using a pokemon center, but since I believe that calls ASM not a list of script commands, I wouldn't really know how to add it to the main one, making me have to add the code manually to each pokemon center nurse.
Although, I could rather easily make it so after you beat them X amount of times he gives it to you without the requirement to not use pokemon centers.

Great. That's exactly what I was asking.

Yep. That site is linked in my signature. I've written most of that information and posted it on this forum before so I'm sure Mat has seen it before... Hopefully he's found it inspiring.

Yeah, I like the key idea better than entering the Hall of Fame more than over 9000 or so times, It would take forever anyways.....
